IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDS QUALIFICATION TIMES.
All times submitted must be able to be verified on British Swimming Rankings i.e times attained at a licensed L4-L1 competition, and must have been attained within the qualifying time period as per the promoters conditions, the key elements of which are set out below-
  • Times set in Masters competitions and appearing only in Masters Rankings are not acceptable.
  • Submitted times for all events other than 400m, 800m and 1500m must have been achieved not more than eight months prior to the closing date for entries (that is between 9th April 2018 and 10th December 2018 inclusive) and confirmed by entering the date, competition, and venue at which the time was achieved on the entry form.
  • Submitted times for 400m, 800m and 1500m events must have been achieved not more than twelve months prior to the closing date for entries (that is between 11th December 2017 and 10th December 2018 inclusive).

Changes to the 2019 programme

Please note that in line with the Swim England  Competition Pathway the Championships have introduced 12 years and over 1500m & 800 meter Freestyle for both boys and girls, these events will be swam in mixed heats determined by entry time, however these will be Championship events with heat declared winners for both the girls and the boys independent of one another.
In line with my previous correspondence unfortunately, after a protracted dialogue with the Regional Licensing Panel regarding the structure of the meet and its compliance with the Swimming Competition Pathway, ONB have regrettably determined in conjunction with the Regional Licensing Panel to drop the 100m IM from the meet schedule.

Finally, as the result of a significant increase in pool hire, the entry fee has been increased to £8 per event

ONB Counties Photography policy
IN LINE WITH THE RECOMMENDATIONS IN THE SWIM ENGLAND PHOTOGRAPHY GUIDANCE & WAVEPOWER CHILD PROTECTION POLICY, THE PROMOTERS OF THIS EVENT REQUEST THAT THOSE PERSONS WISHING TO TAKE VIDEO OR PHOTOGRAPHIC IMAGES DO SO IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE WAVEPOWER 2016-2019 GUIDANCE

This guidance applies to all images and videos taken on any type of camera or recording device (including mobile phones).
t applies to all events run by a Swim England affiliated organisation.
It should be acknowledged that although the majority of images taken are appropriate and in good faith, images can be misused and children can be put at risk if common sense procedures are not observed.

Recommended best practice
The Swim England guidelines state that all photographs for publication must observe generally accepted standards of decency, particularly:
• Action shots should be a celebration of the sporting activity and not a sexualised image in a sporting context.
• Action shots should not be taken or retained where the photograph reveals a torn or displaced swimming costume.
• Poolside shots of children should be above the waist only in a swimming costume, though full length tracksuit shots are approved.
• Photographs should not be taken from behind the starting blocks or that show young participants climbing out of the pool.
Published photographs may identify the individual by name and organisation but should not state the member’s place of residence or school attended.
The ASA does not wish to stop parents photographing their child if they wish, but all organisations must ensure they do all they can to safeguard each child’s well being.
Results
A few KGSC swimmers were involved in the County Champs distance and age group relay events.
Lucy P was our only swimmer braving (and qualifying) for the longest pool distance of 1500m freestyle. Despite the race falling just after the Xmas period Lucy swam a very well paced swim in a good time of 20:38:38. Well done Lucy.
The evening session saw the turn of the U12 Boys relays.
Medley 4 x 50m
With a slow entry time the boys stormed their heat. Their time then beat all but one team in heat 2 and managed to beat three teams in the final heat.
Result 7th Place, Time: 2:39:90
This was over 6 secs quicker than the final round of the Arena League.
Unofficial splits:
JPT   43:27
MPT 42:31
RH    38:77
OC    35:37

Freestyle 4 x 50m
Although not as spectacular the boys still beat their fastest Arena League time and placed inside the top 10 again.
Result 9th place, Time: 2:21:95
Unofficial splits:
MPT  33:10 (official)
RH    35:65
JPT   37:29
OC    35:98

Well done to the girls who swam at the Counties.
Lucy Mc and Lucy P finished in times of 5.07 and 5.08 respectively in the 400 Freestyle. That 7 second PB placed Lucy Mc 18th in the County in a very tough age group, whilst Lucy P finished 17th in the Open age.

The evening session saw the turn of the U12 girls in their 4 x 50 Free and Medley relays.
They swam brilliantly and despite the odd technical error came in the middle of a very strong 22 team field.
  • 4 x 50 Medley = 10th Place
  • 4 x 50 Free = 12th Place
With Sophia swimming up an age and Eleanor swimming up two age groups this really was a stellar performance
In the Medley, Sophia and Eleanor split 4 and 3 seconds under their current PB's, which shows great progress.

So how did they fare against the Boys... Well it was a close run contest...
200 Medley                         Boys U12               02:39:84              Jasper P-T, Magnus P-T, Ryan H, Oli C
200 Free                              Boys U12               02:22:78               Magnus P-T, Ryan H, Jasper P-T, Oli C
200 Medley                        Girls U12                02:39:23               Alexia J, Katie Y, Sophia P, Eleanor H

February Overview
Congratulations to all our swimmers who represented Kidlington in this year’s Oxon and North Bucks County Championships in February. Our County goes from strength to strength in terms of quality and depth of swimmers.
This means it’s difficult just to qualify, let lone make finals.
57% of the swims (including finals swims) were PB’s, and some by huge margins (full results below)
Although we struggled for podium finishes, finals were made by Ian Surrage, Magnus P-T, Sophia P and Katie P. Lucy Mc, Alexia J, Joe Walker, Moses B and Zak Gibson also achieved top ten finishes in their respective age groups.
Special mentions to Sophia P who in her inaugural County Champs swam fantastically and made two finals from her three swims in great PB’s. This is a reward for the consistent hard work she puts into training.
Magnus P-T was our highest placed finisher with 4th place in the 12 year old 50 Breast. After making a big PB in the heats he backed it up in the final with another, and just needs to work on that speed endurance, as he was out in front at 25 m.

Picture
Katie P arguably had the best meet of all. Her 100 m Breaststroke heat saw a great 2.3 sec PB, which was further reduced to 1:18.72 in the final, a new club age group record. She then managed to surpass this the following weekend with an astonishing PB in the 50 Breast. Katie skipped out the 35 sec barrier and dropped straight from a 36 to a 34:98! This placed her 7th in the County for the 16 years age group, in what was a very tough field. It also earned her an Automatic Qualifying Time for the South East England Regionals in May.

Lucy Mc was our busiest swimmer, with a solid meet and several PB’s amongst her 10 events in total, a great achievement.

Well done also to Katie Y, Ellie B, Lucy P and Josh B who completed our squad and swam excellently.
