Swim England Masters
National Championships 2019

25-27th Oct 2019 (back to calendar)
Results and Report

15 of the club's Masters swimmers travelled to Pond's Forge to take on the rest of the country at the Swim England Masters National Championships.

It proved to be a fantastic weekend, both in terms of success in the pool and enjoyment out of it.

Overall, the club ranked 19th out of 232 which is an amazing result and a testament to the talent within the squad.

There were dozens of very good individual and team performances and lot's of PBs.

Numerous county records were broken and a British Record was also claimed (see below).

The medal tally was:

8 Gold
8 Silver
6 Bronze

Highlights are as follows:

A British record in the Men's 120+ 4x100 medley.
Joseph CANLAN-SHAW / Ian SURRAGE / Ryan ANSCOMB / Christopher AUST

5 gold medals (and 1 silver) for Ryan Anscomb (30/34 years 50 & 100m Backstroke, 50 & 100m Free, 100m Fly).

2 gold medals (and 1 bronze) for Ian Surrage (30/34 years 50m & 100m Breaststroke).

Individual medals for Chris Wood (2 silvers and 1 bronze) & Chris Aust (1 silver and 2 bronze).

A bronze medal for Paul Cusdin in his first ever competitive relay (including probably the best takeover of the meet).

Out of the pool, the team spirit was outsanding and lots of laughs were shared both in the pool gallery and during our team dinners.

We're all looking forward to next year!
