National Arena League - Round 1

Results & Report
Last Saturday saw us compete in the 1st round of the National Arena League 2021, 2 years on from the last time the league was hosted. We travelled to Hinckley leisure centre in Leicestershire to race against Hinckley B, Swadlincote, Cheadle & Perry Beaches.
Our swimmers did not disappoint, and put in some mega performances to achieve first place on the night. Our 15/U Medley team of Ella J, Katie Y, Ryan H and Magnus P-T and Open Freestyle team of Chris A, Greg B, Meg B and Lucy M finished the night with 2 wins of the finest of margins to take the win by 1 point. (0.03s and 0.16s margins of victory!)
The team took a massive 10 wins and 15 2nd places, with every one on the team achieving either a 1st or 2nd place. The wins came from:
- Open Medley Relay – Grace B, Katie P, Greg B, Chris A
- Ella J – 100 Backstroke
- Greg B – 100 Butterfly & 100 Freestyle
- Katie P – 100 Breaststroke
- Chris A – 100 Breaststroke
- Alex F – 50 Freestyle
- Sophia P – 100 Freestyle
- 15/U Medley Relay – Ella J, Katie Y, Ryan H, Magnus P-T
- Open Freestyle Relay – Chris A, Greg B, Meg B, Lucy M
The swimmers showed great determination in the last half a length, coming out on top at the finish on many occasions, with some being by the smallest of margins (Katie P won the 100 breaststroke by 0.01s!!)
I’m sure you will all agree that this was a very successful evening of racing, let’s keep on working hard in training to achieve more great results over the next few weeks and months!
